For the private beta · last updated 8 August 2026

guidr is about people trusting each other, so we try to be plain about data. Short version: we collect what we need to match you well and run the beta, we don't sell it, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.

1. Who we are

Guidr Labs (ABN 23 580 035 750) ("we", "us") operates the guidr app and this website, and is the entity responsible for the information described here. Questions, requests, or complaints: privacy@guidr.app.

2. What we collect

You give us: your email, first name, city, whether you want to mentor or learn, the device you'll use, your interests, how much time you have, how you heard about us, and anything you write in the free-text fields of the beta application. Inside the app: your profile, messages you send, and sessions you book.

We collect automatically: device type and OS version, app version, crash reports, and basic usage events (screens opened, matches accepted) so we can fix what's broken during the beta.

We do not collect precise location, contacts, or payment details during the private beta.

3. Why we use it

To decide who joins each cohort and pair you with a good match; to run and support your account; to keep people safe (investigating reports and abuse); to improve the product; and to email you about your invite and the beta. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, and only for the purposes above or a directly related purpose you would reasonably expect.

4. What we never do

We don't sell your data. We don't share it with advertisers or run third-party ad tracking. We don't read your private messages except when someone reports a conversation or the law requires it.

5. Who we share it with

Only service providers who help us operate: cloud hosting, email delivery, error reporting, and analytics. They act on our instructions and may only use the data to provide their service. Some are located overseas, including in the United States; before disclosing anything we take reasonable steps to ensure they handle it consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

6. How long we keep it

Beta applications that don't lead to an invite are deleted within 12 months. Account data is kept while your account is active and for 30 days after you delete it, apart from anything we must retain for safety or legal reasons.

7. Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, object to how we use it, or withdraw consent — email privacy@guidr.app and we'll respond within 30 days. If you're unhappy with our answer you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).

8. Cookies

This site uses only what's needed to remember your theme preference and measure page visits in aggregate. No advertising cookies.

9. Under 18s

guidr is for people 18 and over. If we learn an account belongs to someone younger, we delete it.

10. If you're outside Australia

The beta runs in Australia, the United States and Singapore. Wherever you are, your information is stored and processed in Australia and the United States by us and our service providers, and we protect it under the standards described above. Two extra sets of rights apply below.

11. United States residents

We do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we have not done so in the past 12 months.

Depending on your state — including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas and others with comprehensive privacy laws — you may have the right to know what we hold, get a copy in a portable format, correct it, delete it, and not be discriminated against for exercising those rights. Email privacy@guidr.app and we'll verify your identity and respond within 45 days. You can use an authorised agent. If we decline, you may appeal by replying to our response.

We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and we do not process sensitive personal information for inferring characteristics.

12. Singapore residents

We handle your information in line with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012. We collect, use and disclose it only for the purposes set out above, with your consent or as the PDPA otherwise allows.

You can withdraw consent, request access to your data, or ask us to correct it by emailing our Data Protection Officer at dpo@guidr.app. We'll respond within 30 days. Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer match you or run your account. We do not send marketing messages to Singapore numbers, so the Do Not Call registry doesn't apply.

Where we transfer your data out of Singapore, we ensure a comparable standard of protection through our contracts with service providers.

13. Changes

The beta will change and so will this page. If a change matters, we'll email you before it takes effect.
